Bridge Construction Corporation Decides to Postpone De-Launching Work Decision Taken in View of Flood Conditions on Instructions of Bhagalpur DM; Bridge Safety and Traffic Arrangements Under Review
Bhagalpur: In view of the rising water level of the Ganga and the prevailing flood situation in the region, the Bridge Construction Corporation has decided to temporarily postpone the de-launching work. The decision was taken following directions from the Bhagalpur District Magistrate (DM). The administration believes that under the current circumstances, safety aspects must be assessed before proceeding with any technical or construction-related activity connected with the bridge.
The rising water level, strong river currents and fluctuations in the flow have prompted authorities to exercise additional caution at the construction site. Officials have been instructed to prepare a fresh action plan only after conditions become favourable.
DM Directs Officials to Give Priority to Safety
Considering the flood situation, the district administration has instructed officials associated with the bridge project to strictly follow safety standards. The DM has directed authorities to continuously monitor the river’s water level, flow and weather conditions.
The safety of workers engaged at the construction site has also been given priority. The administration is obtaining regular updates from the departments concerned and taking precautionary measures to prevent any accident in the construction area as water levels rise.
Technical Risks Increase During Strong River Currents
Construction-related activities in a river become more challenging when the current is strong. Increased water pressure can damage construction materials, equipment and temporary structures. Working safely at the site can also become difficult for personnel.
De-launching is an important technical stage of bridge construction and requires close monitoring of structural components and supporting arrangements. Therefore, instead of taking unnecessary risks under the present conditions, authorities have decided to temporarily suspend the work.
Special Focus on Bridge Safety
Although the de-launching work has been postponed, safety monitoring of the bridge and construction site will continue. Engineers and technical teams have been instructed to inspect the structure and surrounding areas regularly.
Officials have also been asked to immediately report any sudden rise in water levels, strong currents, erosion or other potentially dangerous developments. Additional safety measures may be introduced if required.
Fresh Work Plan After Conditions Improve
According to officials, the de-launching work has not been cancelled permanently. It has been temporarily postponed due to the current flood and river conditions. Once conditions become favourable, the work will be resumed after consultation with technical experts and a review of safety requirements.
Before restarting the work, officials will assess the river’s water level, current and weather conditions. A revised schedule may then be prepared based on the recommendations and report of the technical team.

The district administration has made it clear that the safety of the public and workers associated with the construction project remains the top priority.
