CO Inspects Flood-Hit Shankarpur Panchayat by Boat Panchayat Completely Affected by Floodwaters; Relief and Rescue Arrangements Reviewed
Shankarpur : With the flood situation continuing to worsen, Shankarpur Panchayat has been completely affected by floodwaters. Water has spread across the area, disrupting normal life in several villages and hamlets. To assess the situation, the Circle Officer (CO) visited different flood-affected areas of the panchayat by boat. During the inspection, the officer reached waterlogged villages, interacted with affected families and reviewed the status of relief and rescue operations.
The spread of floodwaters across Shankarpur Panchayat has increased the difficulties faced by residents. Several roads and connecting routes have been submerged, disrupting movement between villages. People are facing problems accessing essential goods, markets, healthcare services and other basic facilities. In many areas, boats have become the primary means of transportation.
CO Visits Affected Areas by Boat
The CO inspected several parts of the panchayat by boat and assessed the condition of houses, roads and connecting routes surrounded by floodwater. During the visit, local residents informed the administration about the difficulties they were facing.
Several families said that rising water levels had made daily life extremely difficult. With normal transportation disrupted, there is growing concern about the availability of food supplies and other essential items. Villagers demanded relief materials, safe drinking water and other basic facilities from the administration.
The CO directed officials and local staff to prepare a list of the requirements of affected families and continuously monitor relief arrangements. The officer said that no flood-affected family should be deprived of essential assistance.
Relief and Rescue Operations Reviewed
Relief and rescue arrangements were also reviewed during the inspection. The administration is making efforts to deliver assistance to flood-affected areas. Preparations are being made to provide food supplies and other essential materials to people in need.
Special attention is also being given to healthcare services for sick and elderly people. Boats are being kept ready to shift people to safer locations if required.
Concerns Grow Among Livestock Owners
Flooding has also increased the difficulties of livestock owners. Problems related to cattle fodder and safe shelter for animals have emerged. Many villagers are trying to move their livestock to safer places.
The CO directed local officials to focus on arranging fodder and necessary assistance for animals as well. The safety and welfare of livestock were also emphasised as an important part of flood relief operations.
Transportation Severely Affected
Several connecting roads in the panchayat have been submerged, seriously affecting transportation. Villagers are now relying on boats even for short-distance travel. Flooding has also affected children’s education, daily wage work and routine activities.
Local residents said the situation could become even more difficult if the water level rises further. Villagers have urged the administration to ensure regular relief supplies and safe transportation arrangements.
Administration Appeals for Caution
Following the inspection, the administration appealed to residents to remain cautious. People have been advised to avoid entering floodwater or areas with strong currents unnecessarily. Families have also been asked to take special care of children and elderly persons and contact the administration whenever assistance is needed.
