Patna : The impact of flooding is becoming visible in several parts of Bihar, with rising river levels causing growing concern among residents. Near Patna, the water levels of the Ganga and Punpun rivers have increased. Due to the high water level, a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) has been shut down as a safety precaution, disrupting sewage treatment operations for the time being. The administration is continuously monitoring the situation and making necessary preparations in affected areas.
In view of the flood situation, the Chief Minister also reviewed conditions in flood-affected and vulnerable areas. Concerned officials were directed to keep relief and rescue arrangements ready and ensure that necessary assistance reaches affected people. The government’s focus is on ensuring that the administrative machinery remains fully prepared to deal with any emergency.
Rising Water Levels Raise Concern
With the water levels of the Ganga and Punpun rising in and around Patna, the administration has increased its level of vigilance. Local authorities are closely monitoring low-lying areas due to the possibility of floodwater reaching residential locations. People living near the riverbanks have also been advised to remain cautious.
Teams from the Water Resources Department and local administration are keeping a close watch on the water levels. Officials have been instructed to take immediate action if the river levels continue to rise.

The Chief Minister directed officials to provide timely assistance to people affected by floods and ensure that they are shifted to safer locations whenever necessary. He also emphasised keeping boats and other essential resources ready for rescue operations.

The administration has appealed to people living near rivers and in low-lying areas to remain cautious. Residents have been advised to avoid entering floodwater or areas with strong currents unless absolutely necessary.
People have also been urged to follow safety guidelines while using boats or crossing rivers. Officials said further decisions would be taken according to changes in water levels
