Preparations Intensify for Shri Vyas Guru Purnima Mahotsav-2026: Municipal Commissioner Prabhat Kumar Jha Conducts Surprise Inspection of MLT College Campus, Takes Stock of Arrangements

Saharsa/Purnia: In Indian Sanatan culture, the festival of Guru Purnima is considered a symbol of utmost purity, reverence, and faith. To make the grand 'Shri Vyas Guru Purnima Mahotsav-2026', scheduled for the auspicious occasion of the year 2026, historic and well-organized, preparations at the administrative level have now begun on a war footing. Keeping in mind the successful organization of the festival and the arrival of lakhs of devotees, the district administration and municipal corporation appear fully prepared.

In this sequence, to take stock of the preparations for this massive festival being organized at the city's prestigious MLT College Campus, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prabhat Kumar Jha took charge himself. The Municipal Commissioner visited the MLT College campus along with a team of administrative officials and conducted an on-site inspection to gauge the ground reality of the ongoing preparations.

In view of the Shri Vyas Guru Purnima Mahotsav-2026, Municipal Commissioner Prabhat Kumar Jha meticulously inspected every nook and cranny of the MLT College campus. During this time, several senior officials of the municipal corporation, engineers, and individuals associated with the organizing committee were also present. During the inspection, the Municipal Commissioner reviewed the main pavilion, the cultural event venue, seating arrangements for saints and devotees, and the vehicle parking zone.

Special Emphasis on Cleanliness and Sanitation: Keeping in view the massive crowd of sadhus, saints, disciples, and devotees arriving from across the country, remote areas, and far-flung regions, the Municipal Commissioner gave strict instructions to keep sanitation arrangements in the campus foolproof. He stated in clear words that special attention should be paid to cleanliness throughout the courtyard so that no visitor faces any inconvenience. For this, instructions were given to place dustbins at various locations and deploy sanitation workers specially.

Uninterrupted Supply of Drinking Water: Keeping in mind the hot and humid weather conditions and overcrowding, drinking water is a top priority. The Municipal Commissioner has instructed to ensure adequate arrangements for pure drinking water in various parts of the college campus. For this, directions have been given to arrange temporary water tanks, water kiosks, and tankers so that devotees do not have to wander for water.

Lighting Arrangement: Lighting arrangement is extremely important from the perspective of evening events and security during the festival. The Municipal Commissioner directed the installation of high-capacity lights across the entire college campus and surrounding approach roads, immediate repair of non-functional street lights, and keeping generator backups ready so that darkness does not prevail even in the event of a power outage.

Stock of Other Basic Amenities and Security

During the inspection, Municipal Commissioner Prabhat Kumar Jha did not limit himself only to cleanliness, water, and electricity, but also meticulously took stock of other necessary basic amenities.

Temporary Toilets and Urinals: The presence of public facilities is extremely essential in large events. The Municipal Commissioner directed that an adequate number of temporary toilets (mobile toilets) be constructed and established both outside and inside the college campus, with special arrangements made separately for women.

Traffic and Parking Management: To ensure traffic is not disrupted due to the massive crowds surging at the festival, safe and open spaces outside the college campus have been identified for vehicle parking. The Municipal Commissioner also discussed traffic control and barricading with police and administrative officials.

Medical Camp and Emergency Services: To deal with any unforeseen situation, instructions were issued to ensure the deployment of a medical camp and ambulance right on the campus so that immediate first aid can be provided if needed.

Administrative Commitment and Necessary Guidelines Given to Officials

Concluding the inspection, Municipal Commissioner Prabhat Kumar Jha told the media and concerned officials in conversation that 'Shri Vyas Guru Purnima Mahotsav-2026' is a great festival of our cultural heritage. Lakhs of devotees are likely to participate in it. In such a situation, it is the moral and administrative responsibility of the administration to provide excellent facilities and a safe environment to all visiting devotees.

Ultimatum to Complete Work Within Timeframe: The Municipal Commissioner sternly cautioned officials of all concerned departments (Electricity Department, Public Health Engineering Department, Sanitation Branch, etc.) that all preparations must be completed under all circumstances before the commencement of the festival. No slackness or negligence of any kind will be tolerated.

Coordination with the Committee: Members of the organizing committee have also welcomed this visit by the Municipal Commissioner and assured full cooperation to the administration.
