From posh areas to densely populated inner localities, even after morning garbage collection, heaps of trash continue to litter roadsides, intersections, and open plots throughout the day and well into late evening. Due to a lack of regular monitoring, a severe shortage of proper dumping yards, and the lethargic functioning of the municipal corporation, the city's sanitation system has collapsed, making life miserable for ordinary citizens.

Condition of Main Roads and Intersections: Garbage Left Uncollected Even After Sundown

Whether it is the main thoroughfares of Bhagalpur or bustling market areas, piles of open garbage everywhere bear witness to the fact that the municipal corporation's sanitation drives remain confined only to paper:

Mounting Heaps of Trash: According to rules, morning cleanup involves sanitation workers collecting garbage from homes and shops, but by evening, waste discarded by local shopkeepers, street vendors, and passersby accumulates once again into heaps along the roadsides.

Foul Stench and Mosquito Infestation: Because garbage remains scattered until late evening, the resulting decomposition and foul odor make it difficult for nearby shopkeepers and pedestrians to breathe. Flies swarming over rotting trash and buzzing mosquitoes pose an open invitation to dangerous infectious diseases like dengue, malaria, and typhoid.

The Even Worse State of Inner Localities

While cleaning vehicles occasionally appear on main roads, the alleyways of inner neighborhoods (such as Laheri Tola, Suzaganj, Khanjarpur, Mashakchak, Mundichak, etc.) are left entirely to fate:
