Two-Day Convention of Madhyadeshia Vaishya Mahasabha Begins in Nathnagar Representatives from Several States Participate, Demand Greater Security and Political Representation for the Community
Nathnagar : A two-day convention of the Madhyadeshia Vaishya Mahasabha began on Saturday at the Shri Champapur Digambar Jain Siddha Kshetra in Kabirpur, Nathnagar. Representatives, office-bearers and social workers from several states participated in the convention. The opening session discussed several issues, including the current situation of the community, social unity, education, employment and political participation. Representatives also expressed concern over increasing crime against members of the community and urged the government to ensure their safety.
Participants said traders and ordinary members of the community are facing difficulties on several fronts. Increasing criminal incidents have created a sense of insecurity among people. They stressed the need for the government and administration to take effective steps to control crime. According to the representatives, a strong law-and-order system is essential for creating a secure environment in which members of the community can conduct their businesses and social activities without fear.
Representatives Arrive from Several States
Representatives from Bihar as well as Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and other states participated in the two-day convention. Discussions focused on strengthening the organisation and bringing community members from different regions onto a common platform.
Representatives said a social organisation can function effectively only when members from all sections work together by setting aside differences. The need to increase the participation of women and young people in organisational activities and involve the younger generation in community initiatives was also highlighted.
Concern Over Crime, Demand for Security
The issue of increasing crime was prominently raised during the convention. Representatives said criminal incidents involving traders and ordinary citizens have created growing concern within the community. Business owners in several areas are reportedly worried about their safety.
The representatives urged the government to increase police patrolling in sensitive areas and take swift action against criminals. They said investigations and legal proceedings following criminal incidents should be expedited so that victims can receive justice without unnecessary delays.
Demand for Greater Political Representation
Political representation was another major issue raised during the convention. Community representatives said that the community does not have adequate participation in the political sphere in proportion to its population and contribution to society. They urged the government and political parties to provide appropriate political representation to qualified members of the community.
They said deserving members should be given opportunities at all levels, from panchayats to state assemblies and Parliament. Greater political participation would help ensure that the community’s concerns are raised more effectively on appropriate platforms.
Education and Youth Development Discussed
The convention also discussed education and the future of young people. Representatives stressed the need to provide quality education to children and offer guidance for competitive examinations and employment opportunities.
The importance of connecting young people with self-employment and modern business practices was also highlighted. Speakers said that the nature of business is changing rapidly in the digital era, making it important for young people to understand technology and emerging business opportunities.
Message of Social Unity
The convention also conveyed a message of social unity and mutual cooperation. Representatives said that the community must collectively raise its voice on issues such as education, security, employment and political participation for overall development.
Several other community-related issues are expected to be discussed during various sessions of the two-day convention. Organisation officials said the suggestions and resolutions emerging from the conference would subsequently be presented before the government and concerned departments.
