17-Year-Old Mankhush Dies by Drowning in Kosi River; Mourning Grips the Family
Naugachia (Bhagalpur): The waves of the Kosi River have once again snatched away the happiness of a cheerful family. In a heartbreaking incident near Azadnagar Tola in the Naugachia subdivision of Bhagalpur district, 17-year-old Mankhush Kumar drowned while bathing in the river. This tragedy has stunned the entire region. The untimely death of Mankhush has left his mother and other family members inconsolable, and a pall of gloom has descended over the village.
The Incident: A Carefree Afternoon Turns into Silence
According to the information received, the incident occurred on Wednesday. Mankhush had gone to the banks of the Kosi River with his friends. To find relief from the scorching heat, they all stepped into the river to bathe. Mankhush could not gauge the depth of the water and was suddenly caught in a strong current.
His friends who were present shouted for help, but within moments, Mankhush disappeared into the deep water. Hearing the cries of his friends, nearby villagers rushed to help, but finding him in the turbulent waters of the Kosi proved difficult.
Administrative Response and Recovery of the Body
Upon receiving information, the local police and a team of divers reached the spot. After an intensive effort and with the help of local swimmers, the teenager's body was recovered from the river. As soon as the body was brought to the bank, the crowd gathered there broke into wails of grief.
The Naugachia police took the body into custody and completed the necessary formalities. Subsequently, the body was sent to the Sub-divisional Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police have registered a case of unnatural death (UD case) in this connection.
