Patna: A bomb threat targeting the Chief Minister's Residence, the Bihar Secretariat, and four schools in Patna has put the state's security agencies on high alert. The threat was received through an email, prompting immediate action by the police, bomb disposal squad, dog squad, cybercrime unit, and intelligence agencies.

The threat comes at a sensitive time as the Bihar Legislative Assembly's Monsoon Session is currently underway, leading to heightened security across the state capital. Authorities have intensified surveillance at all sensitive government establishments while conducting extensive search operations.

Threat Received Through Email

According to officials, the threatening email was received at around 7:57 a.m. on Tuesday on the official email account of the Rural Development Department.

The sender claimed that a bomb would explode in the Bihar Secretariat at 3:11 p.m. on July 21, followed by explosions at the Chief Minister's Office and the Chief Minister's Residence at 9:11 p.m. the same day.

The email also mentioned four schools, raising additional concerns among security agencies and education authorities.

Complaint Filed Immediately

Following the receipt of the threatening email, Ravi Kumar, Joint Secretary of the Rural Development Department, lodged a formal complaint with the local police station.

An FIR-related legal process was initiated, and the matter was immediately referred to the cybercrime unit and other investigative agencies for further examination.

Security Agencies Swing Into Action

As soon as the threat was reported, the Bihar Police Headquarters directed all concerned departments to remain on high alert.

Security was significantly tightened at the Chief Minister's Residence, the Chief Minister's Office, the Bihar Secretariat, the Legislative Assembly complex, and other key government installations.

Additional security personnel were deployed, and strict screening of people and vehicles was initiated at all entry and exit points.

Dog Squad and Bomb Disposal Team Conduct Searches

Considering the seriousness of the threat, dog squads and bomb disposal teams began thorough inspections of all sensitive locations.
