On the afternoon of the day of the incident, she was heavily intoxicated (having consumed beer).
Misunderstanding and Holding the Child's Hand: Due to being intoxicated, Chanda Rani spotted a 3-4-year-old child on the road. She thought the child was an acquaintance from her own area. Under this misunderstanding, she grabbed the child's hand and started taking him along on the pretext of treating him to a samosa.

She told the police that she had left her home on Saturday for Darbhanga, where she was supposed to participate in the shooting of a Bhojpuri song at a studio. She also admitted that she had consumed a lot of beer, due to which she was mentally disoriented and the incident happened out of a misunderstanding.
Child's Mother's Complaint: On the other hand, the child's mother, Chandan Devi, a resident of Patiyasa in Ahiyapur, reached the Sadar police station and filed a written complaint. She told the police that she lives on rent in Baria with her husband and works as a ragpicker. At the time of the incident, they were eating food at a hotel near Bhagwanpur Chowk and their child was playing nearby when the said woman tried to lure him away.

Additionally, efforts are being made to contact the concerned studio operator in Darbhanga to confirm the purpose of her travel from Uttar Pradesh to Bihar. The police are pursuing further legal action based on evidence from both sides.
