Major Police Action in Bhagalpur, Bihar: Liquor Smugglers and Warrantee Arrested from Champanagar and Srinagar Police Station Areas
Bhagalpur: To strictly enforce the complete prohibition law and crack down on crime and criminals in the state, the police continue to maintain an active stance. In this context, the police achieved significant success by apprehending several liquor smugglers and warranties during special raids and evening patrolling (Sandhya Gashti) across various police station areas in the Bhagalpur district. This coordinated and separate action by the Champanagar and Srinagar police stations has caused panic among illegal liquor traders.
Action by Champanagar Police Station: Smuggler and Warrantee Apprehended During Evening Patrolling
To maintain law and order and tighten the grip on criminals, the Champanagar police station intensified its evening patrolling in the area. Acting on secret information received during this patrolling, the police force promptly arrested a liquor smuggler and a warrantee in two separate cases.
Arrest of Prakash Rishi (With 10 Liters of Liquor): During patrolling and raids, the police arrested smuggler Prakash Rishi. A total of 10 liters of illegal country-made brewed liquor was recovered from his possession. Prakash Rishi has allegedly been involved in this illegal trade for a long time, attempting to sneak liquor shipments into the area while evading police radar. However, vigilant police caught him red-handed.
Arrest of Manju Murmu (Warrantee): In a separate operation during the same campaign, the Champanagar police arrested Manju Murmu. Manju Murmu had been evading court-issued proceedings for a long time and was an absconding warrantee. The police had been searching for her for quite some time and apprehended her based on secret information received during evening patrolling.
Action by Srinagar Police Station: One Accused Arrested with 8 Liters of Liquor
In addition to Champanagar, the Srinagar police station successfully arrested another accused as part of a special campaign against crime and liquor smugglers.
During patrolling and vehicle checks, the Srinagar police station stopped a suspicious individual, and a search yielded 8 liters of illegal liquor in his possession. The police immediately took action, arrested the accused, and confiscated the illegal liquor. The police are currently investigating the source of the liquor and its intended distribution points. An FIR has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Excise Act, and further legal procedures have been initiated.
Police Administration Strictness and Further Action
Following these rapid arrests in both police station areas (Champanagar and Srinagar), the police administration made it clear that illegal liquor trade and criminal activities will not be tolerated in the district under any circumstances.
Scrutinizing Criminal Records: Police and excise officials are interrogating all the arrested individuals (Prakash Rishi, Manju Murmu, and the accused arrested from the Srinagar police station) thoroughly. The police are also checking their previous criminal history and investigating who else might be linked to this illegal business.
Process of Sending to Jail: Cases have been registered against all the arrested accused under relevant sections, and they are being prepared for judicial custody following medical examinations.
Campaign to Continue: Police officials have appealed to the general public to inform the police immediately if they receive any information regarding the sale or storage of illegal liquor in their neighborhoods. The police assured that the identity of the informant will be kept confidential and that strict action against smugglers will continue in a similar manner.
