According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain is expected in the state capital, Patna, on Wednesday, while a Yellow Alert has been issued for Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, and Banka, where heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places. The weather department has advised residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rain.

Meteorologists said that the active monsoon trough and continuous moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal are responsible for the ongoing spell of rainfall across Bihar. The department expects light to moderate showers in most districts over the next few days, with heavy rainfall expected in parts of eastern and northeastern Bihar.

Heavy Rain Expected in Purnia on July 24 and 26

The IMD has issued a special weather warning for Purnia district, forecasting heavy rainfall on July 24 and July 26. Continuous downpours may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas and increase the risk of localized flooding in rural regions. The district administration has been advised to remain on alert and ensure that emergency preparedness measures are in place.

Apart from Purnia, districts such as Araria, Kishanganj, and Katihar are also expected to receive heavy rainfall. Rising water levels in nearby rivers could create flood-like conditions in villages located along riverbanks.

Residents of Patna, who have been facing hot and humid weather over the past few days, are likely to get some relief as light rain is expected on Wednesday.
