Over 1 Lakh Devotees Perform Jalabhishek, Chants of 'Bol Bom' Resound

Bhagalpur: On the occasion of the second Monday of the holy and spiritually exuberant month of Shravan, an unprecedented sea of Shiva devotees was witnessed in the historic town of Nathnagar. The stream of devotees that began lining up at the temples from morning onwards for the worship and darshan of Lord Shiva continued well into late evening. An ocean of devotion surged across the famous Baba Mansokamananath Temple in Nathnagar and all other prominent shrines in the area. According to official and local estimates, over 100,000 devotees performed Jalabhishek and Dugdhabhishek of Lord Shiva with proper rituals across various temples in Nathnagar on this sacred second Monday. From morning until evening, the entire Nathnagar region resonated with thunderous chants of "Har-Har Mahadev," "Bam-Bam Bhole," and "Bol Bom."

The Rituals of Jalabhishek Began with the First Ray of Dawn

Considering the significance of the second Monday of Shravan, remarkable enthusiasm and discipline were observed among Shiva devotees:

Waiting for Temple Doors to Open: Long queues of devotees began forming outside the Baba Mansokamananath Temple as early as 3:30 AM. As soon as the temple doors were opened at dawn, devotees began entering the sanctum sanctorum amidst slogans of "Har-Har Mahadev."

Special Adornment and Worship: Head priests of the temple performed grand adornment (shringar), Rudrabhishek, and Maha Aarti of Lord Shiva in the early morning hours. Following this, the gates were opened for general devotees so that worshippers standing in queues could smoothly offer water to Baba.

Devotees' Faith Remained Unshaken Amidst Long Queues and Humidity

Despite the humid weather conditions on this second Monday of Shravan, there was no decline in the enthusiasm of the worshippers:

Participation Across All Classes and Age Groups: This religious ritual saw the participation of not just youth and senior citizens, but also a large number of women, young girls, and small children. Many Kanwarias and devotees had arrived in Nathnagar on foot, barefoot, carrying Ganges water from distant villages.

Hours of Waiting in Long Queues: Long queues of devotees were seen stretching from the temple premises all the way out to the main roads. While waiting for their turn, devotees engaged in chanting mantras and singing Shiva hymns right in the queues, rendering the entire atmosphere deeply devotional.

Heavy Crowds Also Witnessed at Other Shrines in Nathnagar

Not just the Baba Mansokamananath Temple, but other ancient and modern shrines across the Nathnagar region also witnessed a continuous stream of devotees throughout the day:

Vibrancy Across Various Temples: Thousands of devotees began arriving from morning onwards at the Shiva temple situated near Narga Chowk, the shrine near the railway station, and temples in various rural pockets.

Fragrance of Belpatra, Bhang, and Datura: Shops decorated around the temples recorded brisk sales of belpatra, bhang, datura, flowers, garlands, and worship materials. Everyone was eager to offer Lord Shiva his favorite items and seek his blessings.

Foolproof Arrangements by Administration and Temple Committee

Due to the simultaneous gathering of over 100,000 devotees, the district administration and temple management committee remained fully alert regarding law and order and crowd control:

Deployment of Police Forces: Police personnel and female security guards were specially deployed around the temple and along major routes to avert any untiring incidents and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Active Role of Volunteers: Local youths and volunteers from puja committees played a vital role in regulating queues, assisting senior citizens and women, and arranging drinking water at multiple points.

The massive sea of over 100,000 devotees that surged at the Baba Mansokamananath Temple and other shrines in Nathnagar on the second Monday of Shravan proves that people's faith in Sanatan culture and Lord Shiva is unwavering. This sacred festival is not only a symbol of devotion but also disseminates a message of mutual love, brotherhood, and positivity in society. This day of the second Shravan Monday has been etched in the history of Nathnagar as an extremely sacred and memorable chapter.
