Robbery Attempt After Stopping Car, Youth Shot for Resisting; Accused Flee as Police Patrol Arrives
Muzaffarpur: Criminals once again displayed alarming audacity in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district when a young man was allegedly targeted in a daylight robbery attempt in the Ahiyapur police station area. According to the allegations, motorcycle-borne miscreants stopped the victim's car, demanded money, and when he resisted, assaulted him and attempted to drag him out of the vehicle. During the confrontation, one of the attackers allegedly opened fire. Fortunately, a police patrol vehicle reached the spot at the same time, forcing the accused to flee on their motorcycles. The incident has created panic in the area, while police have registered a case and intensified efforts to arrest those responsible.
According to available information, the incident took place near Shivhar Mor in Jhapaha, under the jurisdiction of Ahiyapur Police Station. Mohammad Neyaz, a 25-year-old resident of Khanejadpur village in the Minapur police station area, was returning to Muzaffarpur city from his village when he was intercepted by a group of motorcycle-borne men. Believing they needed assistance, he stopped his car after they signaled him to do so.
The victim alleged that immediately after stopping the vehicle, the miscreants demanded money. When he lowered the car window to ask what the matter was, the attackers allegedly reached inside the vehicle and began pulling him while attempting to rob him of cash and other valuables.
When Mohammad Neyaz resisted and tried to protect himself, one of the accused allegedly fired a shot at him. The sound of gunfire created panic among people in the surrounding area. The victim struggled to defend himself and called for help.
The situation took a dramatic turn when a police patrol vehicle happened to pass through the area at the same time. On seeing the approaching police vehicle, the miscreants became frightened and fled the scene on their motorcycles. Police officials said the timely arrival of the patrol team may have prevented an even more serious incident.
The patrol team immediately reached the victim, gathered preliminary information, and began searching the surrounding area for the suspects. Soon afterward, officers from the local police station and senior officials also arrived at the scene. They inspected the crime scene and questioned nearby residents as part of the initial investigation.
The injured victim was taken to a hospital, where he received primary medical treatment. Doctors stated that his condition is currently stable. Police have recorded his statement and initiated the process of registering a First Information Report (FIR).
According to police officials, the case is expected to include charges related to attempted robbery, attempted murder, illegal use of firearms, and other applicable offenses. A special investigation team has been formed to identify and arrest the accused.
