Participation of Environmentalists: Several prominent environmentalists, intellectuals, and social workers of the city were present at the program, who heaped high praise on the club's effort and appealed to people to plant at least one sapling on every special occasion of their lives (such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) and nurture it like their own offspring.

Plantation of Shade-Bearing and Medicinal Saplings

Under this special campaign, approximately over 500 saplings were planted across various areas of Bhagalpur, with species selected keeping environmental compatibility in mind:

Diverse Plant Species: During the campaign, massive shade-bearing and oxygen-producing trees such as Neem, Peepal, Banyan, Shisham, Arjun, Amaltas, and Mahogany, along with fruit-bearing trees like Amla, Jamun, and Guava, were planted.

Robust Protection Arrangements: Merely planting saplings was not the sole part of this campaign; club members also ensured that tree guards were installed for the protection of every planted sapling, and the responsibility of watering them regularly was handed over to local youths and park committees to ensure a hundred percent survival rate for the plants.

Message of 'Jal-Jivan-Hariyali': Special Emphasis on Water Conservation

Since this campaign was organized under the Bihar government's 'Jal-Jivan-Hariyali' campaign, special public awareness regarding water conservation was also disseminated through it:

Concern Over Declining Groundwater Levels: Speakers expressed concern that groundwater levels across North Bihar, including Bhagalpur, are continuously dropping, posing a major crisis for the future.

Rainwater Harvesting: People were inspired to mandatorily install Rainwater Harvesting Systems in their homes and offices. Additionally, emphasis was laid on the rejuvenation of old wells, ponds, and drainage pipelines to prevent rainwater from going to waste.

Enthusiastic Participation of School Children and Youth

A massive number of students from various schools and colleges of the city participated in this tree plantation and awareness campaign:

Children took out a short awareness rally through the city, holding banners and placards promoting environmental protection.

Painting and essay competitions based on the environment were organized among school children, with winning participants rewarded by the Lions Club. This enthusiasm among children proved that the younger generation is now far more sensitive and aware toward the environment.

This massive tree plantation and public awareness campaign conducted by the Lions Club of Bhagalpur Royal under the 'Jal-Jivan-Hariyali Campaign' is proving to be a milestone in making Bhagalpur's environment green and secure. Such social events not only improve the city's atmosphere, but also awaken a sense of love and responsibility toward nature in the minds of ordinary citizens. The club has resolved that this campaign will not stop here, but rather thousands more saplings will be planted and nurtured in the upcoming monsoon session.
