336-Km Six-Lane Greenfield Expressway to Connect Buxar and Bhagalpur, Travel Time Expected to Fall to Four Hours

Patna: In a major relief for people travelling across Bihar by road, the state government has given in-principle approval for a 336-kilometre, six-lane greenfield expressway between Buxar and Bhagalpur.

The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, approved the project on August 19. Once completed, the expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Buxar and Bhagalpur.

At present, travelling between the two cities by road takes around eight hours. With the new expressway, the journey is expected to take approximately four hours, potentially saving travellers nearly half of their travel time.

The completely access-controlled expressway is proposed to be developed at an estimated cost of around ₹3,700 crore under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The project will follow the DBFOT-Toll model, while implementation will be carried out through the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDC).
